“I hope [this campaign] will show Muslim women that brands care about us as consumers and we’re important, especially hijabis. We can be featured on TV, can be featured on billboards in Times Square, can be represented.”
Cover Girl has been working hard to diversify its offering and shed light on areas that may not get the attention they deserve. In addition to appointing Afia, the company has also recently signed its first “cover boy” in makeup artist James Charles.
We believe that progress that Islamic fashion has made in the Western world, particularly against the political climate of recent years, has been remarkable.
