Seven Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

  • 2 min read

Last week, the Jubbas blog took a look at some of the many benefits that honey has to offer. However, honey is not the only product we provide that can help you. We also retail apple cider vinegar, which has a number of surprising benefits in its own right. Here are just a few of them.

Body Detoxing

Consuming a small amount of apple cider vinegar each day helps your body maintain a correct pH balance, in addition to working with the liver and lymphatic nodes to detoxify the body. Further, it provides stimulation for the heart and serves to regulate the bowels.

Upset Stomachs

Due to its bowel regulating properties, a couple of teaspoons of apple cider vinegar mixed with water is capable of helping deal with the bacterial infections that are often the cause of upset stomachs. The vinegar offers a number of antibiotic properties, such as pectin, which soothes intestinal issues and can help those with diarrhoea.

Teeth Whitening

Vinegar, in general, is often used as a cleaning product, as anybody who has every wiped a metal surface down with vinegar can attest. Apple cider vinegar can offer those same cleaning properties to your teeth. The natural pH of the vinegar can remove many of the stains that develop on teeth over time. Just dip your finger in the vinegar and spend about a minute rubbing your teeth each day. Over time, you will notice a teeth whitening effect.

Curing Hiccups

We all know that many of the remedies for hiccups involve causing shocks to your system, with favoured folk remedies including scaring the afflicted person or having them hold their breath for an extended period of time. Some argue that the sour taste of apple cider vinegar has a similar effect, essentially stopping hiccups by stimulating the throat nerves that cause them.

Throat Soothing

During those times when a throat soothing sweet is just not enough to get rid of the pain, apple cider vinegar comes to the rescue. If you have a sore throat, just mix a quarter cup of warm water with the same amount of apple cider vinegar. Gargle it every hour or so to kill off most of the germs that cause sore throats.

Weight Loss

If you trying to shed a few pesky pounds you will be delighted to discover that apple cider vinegar has been linked to weight loss. According to a study in the Journal of Diabetes Care, the vinegar can reduce sugar cravings, meaning you avoid a lot of unhealthy snacks, in addition to speeding up your metabolism.

No Blocked Noses

Being bunged up with a runny nose is never fun, not least because it makes it really difficult to breathe without opening your mouth. A teaspoon of apple cider vinegar mixed into a glass of water can alleviate the problem. The vinegar contains potassium, which thins the mucus in your nose, making it much easier to get rid of. Better yet, the acetic acid in apple cider vinegar stunts the growth of germs that could lead to your nose getting clogged up again.
